Flexible and long-term volunteer opportunities:

While a large portion of our work focuses on structured surgical training workshops, we also have several flexible volunteer opportunities available.  Between our workshops and other trainings, our partners abroad benefit from one-on-one or small group follow-up trainings.  For example, in Haiti, volunteer teams recently conducted workshops for general, female, and reconstructive urology.  Mentors are now needed to visit them periodically to reinforce the techniques they have been learning.  Other countries have need for long-term positions.  In Rwanda, the Ministry of Health is looking to recruit a urologist for a 1 year commitment.

IVUmed is also seeking mentors for our Traveling Resident Scholar Program during the 2012-2013 academic year.  Mentors are responsible for overseeing residents who are selected by IVUmed (PGY3 or above) during a 1-2 week rotation in a resource-limited setting.
